See how interview questions change for freshers, mid-level engineers and experienced professionals, then practice the level that matches your target role.
Freshers and early career
Expect fundamentals, a project walkthrough, and HR questions about why you want the role. Be ready to explain one project you actually built: what it did, which parts you wrote, and what you would change.
- JavaScript basics, arrays, async and the event loop at an introductory depth
- One framework you used, such as React or Node.js
- A simple database question: tables, keys or a basic query
- Tell me about yourself, strengths and a college or internship project
About 3–5 years
Interviewers expect you to connect concepts to work you shipped. Node.js questions often cover the event loop, APIs and debugging. React questions cover state, rendering and data fetching. You should also handle a behavioral story about ownership.
Experienced professionals
Senior rounds add system design, trade-offs, mentoring and production failure. You may still get a core language question, but the follow-up is about what breaks at scale and how you would measure the fix.
Use the System Design Interview guide for architecture practice, and the technical mock interview for timed explanations.

Frequently asked questions
Are fresher and experienced interview questions the same?
The topics overlap, but the depth changes. Freshers are usually asked to explain fundamentals and projects. Experienced candidates are asked to defend trade-offs, production incidents and design choices.
